The Arab Higher Committee (AHC), or al-Lajna al-ʿArabiyya al-ʿUlyā, was a representative body in Palestine under the British Mandate (1918-48). The Grand Muftī of Jerusalem, Ḥājj Amīn al-Ḥusaynī (d. 1974), established the committee in 1937 so as to give a voice to various sections of society in the national struggle. It was dissolved and re-convened a few times before it finally ceased to exist in 1948.
