Hermann of Carinthia (fl. 532-7/1138-43) was a translator into Latin of Arabic texts on mathematics (including astrology) and Islam. He also authored works on astrology and cosmology. Originating from a Slavic-speaking region of northern Istria, after training at the renowned School of Chartres, he travelled between southern France and northern Spain, where he embarked on a programme of translating mathematical works from Arabic, together with his colleague Robert of Ketton, which would culminate in a translation of Ptolemy's Almagest.
