Abū Ḥuzāba al-Walīd b. Ḥunayfa (or Nahīk) al-Tamīmī (d. 83/702) was a minor Basran Umayyad poet who wrote rajaz and invective poetry. He was enrolled in the dīwān -that is, he joined the army-and was sent to Khurāsān under the commander and governor of that province, Salm b. Ziyād (d. 73/692). In Sijistān he was a member of the entourage of the governor Ṭalḥat al-Ṭalaḥāt (d. c. 65/684-5). He later returned to Basra. He took part in the rebellion of Ibn al-
