This book draws from leaders who are active in the various disciplines to provide a broad spectrum of information on mechanisms and clinical impact of drug interactions - of critical importance in this age of multiple-drug therapy. It deals with mechanisms of in vitro and in vivo, drug-drug, drug-food and drug-herbal interactions and those that cause drugs to interfere with diagnostic laboratory tests. It describes all aspects of drug interactions and their mechanisms ranging from those affecting drug absorption, metabolism, excretion and pharmacology and therapeutic activity, through those interactions affecting drug analysis. This volume will add much to that which is currently known about drug interactions and will directly enhance the safer use of medicines.
