SUMMARY OR ABSTRACT
Text of Note
mycorrhiza fungi live in a symbiosis relationship whit plants and play important role in the absorption and transfer of soil nutrients to the plant, the plant supplies the fungus with sugars. vermicompost is an excellent, nutrient-rich organic fertilizer and soil conditioner. This process of producing vermicompost is called vermicomposting. Sweet basil (Ocimum basilucum L.) is an annual and aromatic herb plant belonging to the Lamiaceae family. The essential oil of sweet basil used in perfumery and food industries. The essential oil of sweet basil possesses anti microbial and anti fungal activity. In order to study the effect of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) symbiosis under different level of vermicompost on growth, nutrient content of leaves, root colonization, essential oil content and yield of sweet basil, a pot experimental using a factorial based randomized complete block design with four replication was conducted. The treatments included application and non application of mycorrhiza fungi Glomus etunicatum and Glomus intraradices) and three level of vermicompost. The results showed that mycorrhiza colonization had significant effects on evaluated parameters. As plant height, steam diameter. number of axillary shoot, number and area of leaves, concentration of nutrient in leaves, root colonization and essential oil. Also vemicompost had significant effect on evaluated parameters. The highest amount of this parameters observed in treatments of inoculated whit G. etunicatum and two percent vermicompost
