SUMMARY OR ABSTRACT
Text of Note
This dissertation deals with the history of the city of Tus in the province of Khurasan in northeastern Iran. It provides a semi-narrative account of the socio-political history of Tus, and its neighboring city of Nishapur, in the late Sasanid, Umayyad and early Abbasid periods (600-750 A.D.). It also proposes an explanation for the revival of Iranian national culture in Tus during the tenth century.
