Abū l-Ḥasan ʿAlī b. Jūlūgh Farrukhī Sīstānī (c. 390-431/1000-40), an eminent Persian poet, was born in the region of Sīstān. His father was a high-ranking servant of the Ṣaffārid amīr of Sīstān, Aḥmad Khalaf Bānū (r. 352-93/963-1003).
