Ali İhsan (ʿĀli Iḥsān) Sabis (1299/1882-1957), a soldier and politician, was born in Istanbul on 15 Şevval (Shawwāl) 1299/30 August 1882. After attending the Beşiktaş Military Middle School (Beşiktaş ʿAskerī Rüşdiyesi), he entered the Military Artillery College (Mekteb-i Ḥarbiye) on 7 Zilhicce (Dhu l-Ḥijjah) 1316/18 April 1899 and graduated from it on 30 Ramazan (Ramaḍān) 1319/10 January 1902. He completed his education, graduating as the top student from the General Staff Academy (Erkan-ı Harbiye Mektebi, Erkān-ı Ḥarbiyye Mektebi,) on 5 Zilkade (
