Ahmed Resmi (Aḥmed Resmī, 1106 or 1107-1197/1694 or 1695-1783), also known as Giritli or Giridī, was an Ottoman statesman and historian, who was born in Rethymnon, Crete. Little is known of his early life. In 1147-8/1734-5, Ahmed Resmi arrived in Istanbul, where he continued his studies of the calligraphic and epistolary arts, likely with the aspiration of joining the khacegān , the senior ranks of the Ottoman chancery.
