Elastography is a noninvasive imaging technique that detects tumors based on their stiffness compared to normal tissue. It uses ultrasound technology and can be performed during an ultrasound examination of the breast. It can dramatically reduce the number of breast biopsies performed. This book introduces the techniques of breast elastography followed by a detailed description for each of the techniques, highlighting their pros and cons. This is followed by a section on how to perform each of the techniques. The third section discusses the methods of interpretation for each technique, and the final section presents cases studies highlighting the pros and cons of each technique and how to avoid pitfalls in interpretation.
