English AbstractThe aim of this study is to compare the dimensions of quality of life and psychological well-being in parents of children with autism and parents of normal children. The statistical population included all parents of autistic children who had a case in Rasht’s Welfare Department and parents of normal children. The research sample consisted of 30 people (18 women and 12 men) from parents of children with autism and 30 people (18 women and 12 men) from parents of normal children with almost the same situation, and the selection of parents was done using the convenience sampling. To collect data, the World Health Organization (WHOQOL-BREEF) short scale of quality of life and the short form of Ryff’s psychological well-being questionnaire were used. The statistical method applied in this research is a multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA). The results of multivariate analysis of variance showed that Parents of children with autism had significant differences in all dimensions of quality of life, except environmental health, and also in all dimensions of psychological well-being. The findings of this research indicate that the parents of children with autism have a lower quality of life and psychological well-being, and this shows that they need more attention and support to improve the quality of life and psychological well-being. These parents should be considered for educational and therapeutic programs.
