In this dissertation, knowledge of the world and its philosophical explanation under the title of cosmology in the philosophy of Descartes and Suhrawardi has been compared, and the similarities and differences between the two cosmologies have been examined. Basis of knowledge of the world, different attributes toward the world, as well as proving the existence and removing doubt from the existence of the world, because it is possible to talk about knowing it, in the philosophy of these two philosophers, will be the main axes of this research. For Descartes, the problem of cosmology is explained on the basis of his quantitative and mathematical vision and concepts such as the extended substance, and in Suhrawardi's philosophy, cosmology is explained on the basis of concepts such as light and darkness. However, metaphysically, the world is a corporeal substance for both philosophers, and the truth of this essence is extension for Descartes and darkness and quantity for Suhrawardi. In general, the Cartesian world can be studied in terms of metaphysical, mathematical, physical and Suhrawardi world in terms of metaphysical and physical characteristics. Descartes considers the material world as a single corporal substance, the whole of which is composed of one substance, and Suhrawardi considers the physical world as the essence of filth or purgatory and defines it as the essence of some darkness. Suhrawardi described some of the world's identities as a skeptical description, but Descartes does not believe in skepticism. Descartes believed that the corporeal substance was due to the essence of God and believes in creating constantly. But Suhrawardi considers the universe as a dubious world that has levels. So that the highest level of the world is God or light, which is absolute light, and the lowest level of existence is the world of darkness. Unlike Descartes, Suhrawardi believes that the world originates through (the world of intellectual light and example) the God and, like Descartes, believes that the continuity of the world depends on God
