Typically, cascading failures have been the main origin of catastrophic blackouts during the power system history. Some factors as like as incorrect operation of protection equipments, short circuit, transient instability and voltage collapse are the substantive causes of cascading failures in the power system. Generally Cascading failure refers to successive outage of power system components that may lead to immense damages and economic losses. The outage of the transmission lines is recognized as the most prevalent factor of cascading failures’ creation and spread. The outage of transmission lines may occur due to some agents as like as overload in the lines, incorrect protection settings, natural disasters, etc. At first hand the research is going to investigate the impact of cascading failures on power system by analyzing the power angel in generators, bus voltages, line currents and the energy not supplied caused by any cascading scenario and at the second stage it is going to introduce a method for controlling and mitigating the failure propagation in power system
Providing an approach to reduce the possibility of large scale blackouts caused by over load in smart grid transmission lines
