Abstract_ In this research, we designed and simulated an electro-optical directional coupler switch configuration with hybrid plasmonic waveguides based on barium titanate. We believe with use of hybrid plasmonic instead of plasmonic we can use all benefits of plasmonic platform besides low transmission loss and coupling length. Also with use of thin film barium titanate which it has 3 to 12 times higher pockels coefficient, better refractive index modulation with low drive voltages will happen. The designed structure consists of two elliptic cylindrical Ag nanowire waveguides on thin film barium titanate on silicon substrate. Thanks to silicon substrate, this structure is compatible with CMOS technology and because of ultra-compact dimension, low structure capacitance and as a result power consumption suitable for modern communication systems is expected.Multiple simulations are done with changing thickness of layers, waveguides axes and separation distance between them to achieve suitable directional coupler switch parameters for better power coupling and optimized electro-optic switch. Results from electro-static simulations with COMSOL and optical with LUMERICAL FDTD shows that transmission loss in 0.0719 dB/μm and coupling length is 9.7 μm. Also with applying different voltages, power separation and coupling between two waveguides is analyzed. The results show that achieving 82.5% modulation depth with 50v is possible.
