Although there is no doubt about the validity and magnitude of Plato s philosophy, we cannot deny the effect of the ancients on his thought.for instance, Parmenides, Heraclitus, Socrates are four great philosophers that Plato collected and developed their thought s and formed his philosophy. of course Plato has not stated to this fact directly in his dialogues. Each inquiry about Plato s relation with any one of these philosophers is a valuable task.and among them understanding the role of Pythagoreans is more important and more difficult. In fact undertaking to conceal basic principles in Pythagorean society causes that we don t have enough information about them and because of this, any saying about their philosophy is a probable one.In spite of mentioned problem, we face with several cases in Plato s dialogues that cannot refer except Pythagoreans. For instance kinship of all life (similarity between macrocosm and microcosm), dualism between soul and body, the divinity of soul and importance of it s purification, immortality and transmigration of soul, to attach great importance to mathematics and harmony in universe as basic principles in Pythagorean society, repeatedly has been applied by Plato in his dialogues such as Phaed, Phaedrs, Gorg, Phil, Tim and Rep. for instance strong reflection of Pythagorean principles in Timaus causes a probability between commentators that they say Plato just reports Pythagoreans thoughts in this dialogue; although there are firm reasons that show Timaus just contains Pythagoreans principles that Plato accepts them and state in his philosophy s structure. This thesis was wrote on the basis of Pythagoreans and Plato s documents and all the writings about them. It thesis describes the philosophy of Plato and then compares that with philosophy of Pythagoras and finally we find out there are a close connection between two philosophy, In other word Pythagoreans had a strong influence on Plato s thoughts in divers aspects
