Undoubtedly, one of the most basic problems in the implementation of development projects is the existence of a stable land for the construction of a project, And it is necessary to have a suitable soil, with the desired geotechnical features in place. Clay is one of the problematic soils in projects, especially road construction and damping due to low load carrying capacity and poor handling, and the ability to swell in the presence of water. One of the ways to reduce clay problems is to stabilize the soil. Soil stabilization is the collective term for any physical, chemical, or biological method, or any combination of such methods, employed to improve certain properties of a natural soil to make it serve adequately an intended engineering purpose. In recent years, extensive researches have been made on the use of new chemical substances such as chemical polymers to finegrained clay soil with different percentages of sand amendment. They are used as traditional stabilizers, such as cement and limestone, and improve the performance of these materials or are independentity added to the soil and serve as a soil stabilizers. In the present study, the effect of two types of cationic and anionic water soluble polymers on clay properties with different percentages of sand was investigated.Clay with different percentages of sand were mixed with different percentages of cationic and anionic water-soluble polymers and the mechanical properties were studied over a seven-day treatment period. In natural clay. The compressive strength of samples containing cationic polymer increased with increasing concentration of solution, but the compressive strength of samples containing anionic polymer decreased with increasing concentration of solution. The increase in strength of the samples with increasing cationic polymer results from the reaction between the polymer and the soil particles and shows the positive effect of cationic polymer which has flocculation and coagulant properties on the soil.and conversely, the decrease in sample strength by increasing the anionic polymer shows a negative effect of the anionic polymer on the soil. In clay with 10 and 30 percent sand, the concentration of cationic solution 2 g / L and in clay with twenty, forty and fifty percent of sand, the concentration of cationic solution 4 g / l is introduced as the optimum concentration. In clay with 10 and 40 sand concentration of anionic solution 2 g / L and in clay with 20 and 50 percen sand, concentration of anionic solution 4 g / l is introduced as the optimum concentration. According to the stress-strain diagrams, we observed a decrease in soil ductility with increasing resistance
