Weed flora assessing is on useful method for determining relative importance of weed species in farmlands. The basic step in weeds control in each district is correct determination of weed species and knowledge about their composition in the cropping systems. Identifying of these uninvited guests is important for reducing their distribution and dominance in our fields. Little information available about weed flora and their distribution in Gilan Province peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) fields. Thus the aim of this study was to survey weed flora and determine weeds relationships with site elevation, soil characteristics, and management methods in peanut fields at Astane ashrafiye and Rasht counties (north of Iran) of Gilan Province. Weed vegetation in 50 peanut fields was sampled in 20 plots of 0.25 m2 randomly placed with a W pattern during 2014. All weed species in each plot were identified, counted (density and cover percentage), and recorded for subsequent data entry and analysis. The cover percentage was measured by grielded plots from 1 to 100 . The collected weed specimens were cataloged, pressed, and identified with the help of flora Iranica and Turkey. The family dominance index (FDI) and relative dominance (RD) were used to find dominant families and species for infestation of peanut fields of these counties. Canonical correspondence analysis (CCA) was used to find relationships between presence and absence of weeds in peanut fields with altitude data received by GPS and some soil characteristics data taken from soil analysis of each field. In this research, 28 weed species from 19 plant family were observed. Regarding their plant form, 96.28 of weed species were angiosperms (66.66 of them were dicotyledonous, and 29.62 were monocotyledonous) and 3.72 of them were pteridophytes. Regarding weed species life cycle, 74.07 and 25.92 were annual and perennial, respectively. Poaceae, Cyperaceae, and Solonaceae with FDIs of 77.1, 45.58, and 39.87 respectively, were the most dominant families. Purple nut sedge (Cyperus rotundus L.), Bermuda grass (Cynodon dactylon L.), black nightshade (Solanum nigrum L.), and native pellitory (Parietaria debilis Forsk) with RD indices of 73.95. 70.18, 27.8 and 25.34, respectively, were the dominant species in the fields. CCA showed that soil silt content and pH from soil parameters had the maximum effect on weeds distribution in peanut fields. Methods, monoculture had the highest effect in weed species distribution in peanut fields of Astane ashrafiye and Rasht counties
