The purpose of this thesis is to derive, evaluate and compare the seismic fragility curves of steel building frames equipped with buckling-restrained braces (BRB) for structural and nonstructural damage at different damage states . For this purpose, finite element models of five, ten, and fifteen-story moment frames with BRBS and without BRBS were used in OpenSees software with Python interpreter (OpenSeesPy) under 44 FEMA-P695 far-field earthquake records. In addition to the intorstory drift, which is a measure of structural damage, the floor acceleration is also considered as a damage measure of acceleration- sensitive nonstructural components. Using incremental dynamic analysis of models, seismic fragility curves as functions of three different seismic intensity measures including peak ground acceleration (PGA), spectral acceleration at the first mode of structural vibration (Sa (T1, 5%)) and weighted spectral acceleration with three modes (Sa (T123, 5%)) were obtained. Also, four damage states including slight, moderate, extensive and complete damage have been considered to obtain fragility curves of structural and nonstructural components. It was observed that the addition of buckling-restrained braces to steel building frames significantly reduces the probability of damage to structural and drift-sensitive nonstructural components, but it does not have a positive effect on the seismic fragility of acceleration-sensitive nonstructural components.
