Gas chromatography is one of the most widely used analytical chemistry devices in the field of gas, , petrochemical, environmental and medical industries. The use of micro-machine technology capabilities in the last few decades has enabled the construction of gas chromatographs in very small dimensions and in the field of microsystems. In this regard, the construction of chromatographic microdetectors is one of the research works of academic and industrial centers today. Among these types of detectors, the thermal conductivity microdetector (μTCD) is of special importance, which is also discussed in this thesis. At first, a new structure of thermal conductivity microdetector has been introduced in micromachines technology. In the proposed structure, the solid body holding the thermal sensors is completely separated from the hot wire and the thermal communication between them is established only through the gas passing through the detector. Thermal sensors are of thermocouple type and are connected in series. Finally, the performance of the proposed detector has been optimized and validated using multiple simulations in Comsol software.
