Abdülhak Adnan Adıvar (1882-1955) was a Turkish author, scholar, and politician who contributed greatly to the development of Turkish social, cultural, and political life. He was born in Gelibolu (Gallipoli) when his father, Ahmed Bahāʾī, who was a member of the ʿulamāʾ of Istanbul, was qāḍī there. He studied medicine at the University of Istanbul and, at the same time, contributed to various newspapers, including Tarik, Gayret , and Saadet . In 1905, upon graduation, Adıvar went to Germany for further education. He returned to Turkey in 1909 and started teaching
