Jumucah prayer is a congregational prayer which Muslims who reside in the same locality offer in a large mosque.It is usually required to be performed by large number of people compare to the five daily prayers. Presentation of Khutbah is one of the integral parts of the Jumucah service without which the Jumucah service is incomplete. In the contemporary society, corruption and degeneration of values have become so wide spread on the planet inhabited by man. However, the situation can be brought under control and can be reduced through various ways, prominent among which is the adoption of Khutbatul- Jumucah. Thus, this research work assessed the role of KhutbatulJumucah in societal reform. The opinions of different Islamic Schools of Thought (Madhahib ) were examined on the controversial issues relating with KhutbatulJumucah.The study surveys some selected Jumucah mosques in Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State; The Khutabah (sermons)delivered by the various Imams with a view to examine.The study used both observational and historical research methodology. In addition, interviews, questionnaire and observation were used in gathering information for the study. The findings in this study showed that KhutbatulJumuc ah played an important role in the life of the Muslim Ummah by addressing the social problem like drug abuse, cultism and other social vices. The study also showed that two different methods were adopted by the Imams in the delivery of Khutbah (sermon) in Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State.The study recommended that Khatīb should endevour to address contemporary issues as it would have impact in the life of Muslims and alleviate or find solution to current problems confronting them. Also, it recommended that if the KhutbatulJumucah continue to strike on Taqwah along with the contemporary issues the society will be better.
