Introduction: Characteristics of the workplace in the hospital is one of the factors affecting nurses' job satisfaction. 5S workplace organization methodology is anefficient technique for changing of workplace conditions and could provide a context for appropriate collaboration and desired changesinattitude of employees. Aim: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of implementing 5S workplace organization Technigue on nurses job satisfaction. Methods:In this qusi-experimental study, seventy nurses were selected from medical and surgical wards of ShahidSayyadShirazi and Amiralmomenin educational and therapeutic centers via hospitals sampling and then randomly were assigned one hospital as intervention group (n=35) and anther hospital as a control group (n=35). The 5S workplace organization technique was implemented in medical and surgical wards of Amiralmomen in hospital for 6 weeks. Job satisfaction questionnaire was completed by participants before and after intervention. Statistical analysis was done with independent t-testand paired t-test.had(14.801.47)(P<0.01) Results: After implementing 5S workplace organizationtechnique, According to t-test the meanand SDscores ofnurses Job satisfactionincreased significantly in intervention group (18.482.03) to compare with thecontrol group (14.801.47)(P<0.01). While the mean andSD of nurses Job satisfaction in both intervention and control groups showed no significant difference (P>0.05)before the intervention. Conclusion: The findings of the study suggested that implementing 5S workplace organization techniquecould enhance nurses Job satisfaction. According to simplicity of thetechnique, nursing managers could use it as a effectiveway toimprove nurses' job satisfaction. Key word: workplace organization, nursing, Job satisfaction.
