‮‭.Abundant normal faults were locally developed in Pliocene- Quaternary pyroclastic sediments in Tabriz depression and east-northern part of the Sahand volcanic sediments ( south and east Tabriz ). Well exposed normal faults are divided in three systems of: synthetic and antithetic, horst and graben structures, conjugate faults and folds associated with normal faults like drag folds and roll over anticlines. The average strike of these fauls is ENE- WSW. Dip of the fault planes change due to layers lithology and reology. Oversteps and bends also occur along normal faults in cross- section. Dilantant normal faults to bedding are formed within the growth strata. Using striations on the fault plans, based on P- T axes method, principle axes of stress are: ?۱= ۲۲۵/ ۸۴ , ?۳= ۳۴۳/ ۰۵ and ?۲ = ۰۷۰/ ۰۵. Field investigatins indicating that the syn- depositional extension occur in Pliocene- Quaternary‬
