The perceptions of African Americans regarding the intergenerational transmission of racism through various methods, especially, in education was the focus of this study. The purpose was to advance a deeper understanding of the perceptions of the transmission of racism through education and its' influence. The theoretical framework utilized to guide this proposed study, was the Critical Race Theory. Semi-structured interviews were utilized to examine insights. The Participants were recruited using purposive sampling. Findings indicated that the perceptions presented reflected the post-modern condition of the African American community and their connection with the past. The literature coupled with the Participants' responses exemplified the three stages of the transmission of knowledge that included, vertical, horizontal, and oblique transmission. The perceptions of the Participants implied that racism has been intergenerationally transmitted and has influenced the academic achievements of African American learners, and the African American community at large. The recommendation for practice included sharing the study with higher education institutions, to assist administrators, instructors, student service representatives, and counselors with binge more effective, and supportive. Recommendations for future research included a quantitative survey research design, to measure the African Americans' perceptions, and how they correlate with academic outcomes. The second recommendation was to initiate a phenomenological research design involving 5-25 participants. In a phenomenological study the attempt is made to understand the participants' perceptions, outlooks, and empathetic understanding of an explicit situation.
