ʿAlī Qulī Khān (c. 1756-1824), son of Muḥammad Ḥasan Khān Qājār Qoyunlū (1715-59), was the non-uterine brother of Āghā Muḥammad Khān (1742-97), the founder of the Qājār dynasty. According to the chronicler Sipihr (1:26-7), he was the ninth and last son of Muḥammad Ḥasan Khān, a position probably connected with the rank of his non-Qājār mother rather than with his age. Unlike the other german brothers of Āghā Muḥammad Khān, ʿAlī Qulī Khān was his unwavering ally from the outset. In 1780, the
