Abū l-Ḥārith ʿĪsā Ibn Wardān al-Madanī al-Ḥadhdhāʾ ("the shoemaker"; d. c.160/776) was a proficient early Qurʾān reciter in Medina. Alongside Ibn Jammāz (d. c.170/786-7), Ibn Wardān was one of the two canonical rāwī s (transmitters) of Abū Jaʿfar al-Madanī (d. 130/747-8), the second eponymous reader of Medina besides Nāfiʿ (d. 169/785-6), according to the system of the ten canonical readings (qirāʾāt) of the Qurʾān devised by Ibn al-Jazarī (d. 833/1429).
