Abū l-Khayr Muḥammad b. Muḥammad Shams al-Dīn Ibn al-Jazarī (751-833/1350-1429; his nisba refers to his connection with Jazīrat Ibn ʿUmar, in Anatolia, not far from Mosul) was the foremost scholar of qirāʾāt (readings of the Qurʾān) in the ninth/fifteenth century, known primarily for his efforts to incorporate the eponymous readings of Abū Jaʿfar al-Madanī (d. 130/747-8), Yaʿqūb al-Ḥaḍramī (d. 205/820-1), and Khalaf al-ʿĀshir (d. 229/843-4) into the Qurʾānic canon.
