The Arab-Islamic medieval tradition ascribed to the Greek philosopher Bryson a short treatise on economics (household management). This treatise was translated into Arabic, Hebrew, and Latin in the Middle Ages, and spread among a number of Islamic (mainly Persian) philosophers. Bryson's identity and dates are debated. He may have been active in the fourth-third centuries B.C.E. or in the second century C.E.
