Mīr Abū l-Fatḥ al-ʿArabshāhī (d. 976/1568-9) was an eminent Ṣafavid scholar and one of the most influential Muslim logicians of the tenth/sixteenth century. Little is known of his early life. He reportedly studied in Transoxania with the prominent grammarian, rhetorician, and logician ʿIṣām al-Dīn al-Isfarāyīnī (d. 943/1536-7). Whereas his teacher had abandoned the realm of the Shīʿī Ṣafavids for that of the Sunnī Uzbeks, Mīr Abū l-Fatḥ followed the opposite path. He appears to have been in Mashhad when the
