The purpose of the current study was to contribute to the overall literature by increasing clear and succinct understanding of the elements that make up the India-Pakistan conflict. The practical purpose for this study is that the information gathered will produce a means of mediation and negotiation between India and Pakistan and increase the stabilization and security of the South Asian region. The qualitative research methodology was utilized with a systematic review of the literature. The systematic review of the literature produced findings involving three elements in relation to the background of the India-Pakistan conflict: religion, identity, and territorial disputes. There has been little to no progress on the conflict ending between India and Pakistan. Over the last 70 years, four wars have taken place between India and Pakistan. In the end, the findings prove the hypothesis was in line with the overall conflict between India and Pakistan.
