The importance of discourse analysis which is an interdisciplinary trend is an obvious phenomenon for linguists and sociolinguists. The interactional relationship between text and context illuminates the fact that the belief and ideology beyond text production provides an opportunity for text producers to keep intended audiences under control. In such a case, critical discourse analysts take actions to uncover the role of power relations in various discourses, and contest social and cultural inequality and injustice. In this qualitative study, the role of two American newspapers in developing Islamophobia was investigated in the field of CDA under the Appraisal framework. Of course, since the attitude and insight of western culture toward Islam is in concern, the attitudinal system of this theory was the focus of interest. The findings of this study support the hypothesis that there are elements of evaluative language in the news articles related to Islam in which the Appreciation subsystem appears to be more frequent. Data was collected via online sources from the world section of The New York Times and USA Today.
