Granular materials consist of separate solid particles which spread inside a container. Sand, rock, soil, ore, grains, medicines and various other materials are some of these kinds. Analysis of granular material dynamic as a discrete system can be seen in some fields such as chemistry, agriculture, pharmaceutical, powder metallurgy, soil mechanics, foundary, cement manufacturing, civil engineering and etc.One of the important aspects related to the subject, which is considered in most today industries, is how to control the flow of granular materials. Using mechanical vibration is one of the best ways to do this in proper way.In this thesis, we tried to provide a numerical model of granular materials movement and also forces which are applied on each particle as a result of interactions between each particle with the others under vibration.To study the dynamic of granular materials, addition to the experimental tests, a theoretical basis is needed. Studying basis of these issues is a new method which is called "Discrete Element Method" (DEM). This method is based on modeling of each partical separately on its own movement path and then calculating all the forces and moments applied on it and finally position of this particle in the next time step is predicted.Analysis of discrete systems using "DEM" is time consuming and due to the large volume of calculation, it is generally impossible to solve it manually. So for convenience analyzing of these systems, programming languages or simulation softwares are used. In this thesis, programming in the MATLAB software is used for system analysis. Also we use WM۴D software for simulation of vibrated system.At the end of this thesis, first by comparing theoretical model vs experimental one, the model is confirmed. Then the results of experimental tests and numerical simulations are compared to study the factors that affect on flow of granular materials under vibration. Container geometry, physical characteristics of materials and vibration frequency and amplitude of container are some of these factors
