These days pioneering organizations are those institutions that are able to get the most out of their potentialities. Most experts believe that knowledge, as the most important guideline source, will play an increasingly pivotal role in the success of organizations and the development of a permanent gain; thus, effective knowledge management will turn into a main challenge to the organizations. Considered as one of the valuable assets, knowledge in Physical Education Administration needs to be properly managed. Due to the fact that knowledge management has received less attention in our country, most managers are unaware of its advantages and the effects that it will have on human resources performance. Knowledge management has expeditiously outshone the information technology and in some cases it has even surpassed it. Analyzing knowledge management and significance of its specifications in scope of coverage of organizations indicates that in order to keep going it is inevitable for any organization and especially for Physical Education Administration, regarding its defined goals and objectives in society, to keep abreast of current world knowledge. Since knowledge always depends on human beings, in the long run, in knowledge based organizations in the competitive arena, success is achieved only through qualified staff. In this regard, human as the focal point and the target for productivity has a key role to play.The main purpose of the present study was to examine the relationship between knowledge management and human resources performance in Physical Education Administration of Eastern Azerbaijan Province.Statistical universe for the present study includes all the management authorities (directors, deputies and deans), committee executives, experts and other clerks in Physical Education Administration of Eastern Azerbaijan Province.To this purpose, using a researcher-designed questionnaire the degree to which knowledge management is applied in Physical Education Administration of Eastern Azerbaijan Province was examined; also in order to investigate the human resources performance a standard questionnaire was utilized. Thus, through the use of the results achieved in this study, authorities in Iranian Physical Education Administration and authorities in Physical Education Administration of Eastern Azerbaijan Province can gain an understanding of the existing problems in their organizations and will make their best to resolve the problems and therefore by providing a suitable environment for their personnel, they can pave the ground for the successful application of knowledge management. Results of the present research can also help policy makers in Physical Education Administration of Eastern Azerbaijan Province to formulate their policies in a way that the objectives will not lead to knowledge hoarding but to knowledge sharing. In addition, the outcome of the present study can help the authorities in question be aware of the importance of manpower in the application of knowledge management, promote the culture of support for knowledge in these organizations, and have a positive effect on human resources performance.Results of the present study also indicate that there is meaningful relationship between knowledge management and human resources performance. In other words, through the application of knowledge management we can improve human resources performance. Also, the building blocks of knowledge management including knowledge recognition, knowledge acquisition, and knowledge sharing and knowledge retention have a positive effect on human resources performance. However, there is no meaningful relationship between human resources performance and knowledge development as well as knowledge application.Key words: knowledge management, human resources performance, Physical Education Administration of Eastern Azerbaijan Province
