.It is necessary to monitoring of earth Dams for investigating their safety application, and comparing their real behavior with predictioned problems, and also for using them as experiences for next designs. Monitoring of earth dams is possible with installation of instruments at sensitive points and measurement different parameters such as pore pressures and deformations (settlement and displacement). In this research monitoring of Mehabad earth dam has studied with using instrumentation informations and numerical analysis. For numerical analysis the GEO_SLOPE and PLAXIS packages have used. With considering to results of that programs which has compatibility with observations and measurements, to be concluded that using of this programs is useful for predicting behavior of earth dams.In this research, general instrumentations used in earth dams and commonly methods for measuring geotechnical quantities has studied. using the instrumentation data which measured at a long time range, and also using the finite element modeling results, behavior of Mehabad earth dam has analysed. With considering to passing more than 30 years from construction of Mehabad earth dam, we can say its material has most of their settlement; thus in transient condition of reservoir table they show a little settlements. After construction of cut off wall and after completing injection process, the amount of measured seepage throughout foundation has reduced to 0/05 cm3/min
