Driven toward advances in wireless communications, energy efficient systems, in the spirit of a green energy future, must be considered. Targeting concepts of next generation wireless technology standards - like that of 3GPP's upcoming 6G - optimizations to an energy efficient digital communication system were proposed. With the novel spatial modulation scheme, advancements in technology and addition of polarization domain were suggested to improve detection error rate. Incorporating multi-polarized antenna elements, the measurement of cross-polarization discrimination was possible. This measurement was proposed as a feature to enhance spatial awareness within the wireless environment, improving accuracy of antenna-index detection at the receiver. Extending orthogonal frequency division multiplexing capabilities to spatial modulation, algorithms were proposed for subcarrier allocation considering the cross-polarization discrimination feature. This algorithm, and baseline of randomly selected subcarriers, were tested within a simulated fixed-to-mobile channel. Results confirm improvements to antenna-index detection as compared to the baseline, providing lower symbol error rates.
