ʿAbdallāh b. ʿAlawī al-Ḥaddād (1044-1132/1634-1720) is arguably the most famous Ṣūfī master and scholar of Ḥaḍramawt and of the ʿAlawiyya ṭarīqa, a Ṣūfī order (lit. "path") first articulated by Muḥammad b. ʿAlī Bā ʿAlawī, who was also known as al-Faqīh al-Muqaddam ("The Foremost Scholar", a title illustrating his paramount spiritual position in the ṭarīqa ) (d. 653/1255).
