Mīrzā ʿAlī (c. 915-83/c. 1509-75), a Persian painter, is mentioned in four texts of the tenth-eleventh/sixteenth-seventeenth centuries, ascriptions on two folios in a Khamsa of Niẓāmī dated 946-9/1539-42 (London, British Library, MS Or. 2265, fols. 48v and 77v), and signatures below three paintings in a Bustān of Saʿdī dated 936/1529-30 (New York, Metropolitan Museum of Art (MMA), 1985.216.2, fols. 17b, 76a, and 104b). From these documents, art historians have constructed the oeuvre of Mīrzā ʿAlī. According to
