Cape Town and its surrounding areas in South Africa, once known as the Cape of Good Hope, are the cosmopolitan home of a multi-ethnic, multilingual, politically diverse, and multireligious society, which comprises residents belonging to various religious traditions, among them Christianity, Judaism, and Islam.
