Ordinary Dierential Equations (ODEs) form one of the classes of models arising from the mathematical formulations of nearly all systems undergo- ing change. In particular, they are common in science and engineering as well as economics, social science, biology, business and health care. These equations are either Initial Value Problems (IVPs) or Boundary Value Prob- lems (BVPs), therefore, the numerical treatment of Ordinary Dierential Equations is inevitable. The aim of this study was to extend the Adomian Decomposition and Generalized Taylor Expansion Methods for solving non- linear Ordinary Dierential Equations of variable coecients with view to: (i) improve on the procedure for generating the Adomian polynomials for nonlinear Ordinary Dierential Equations of variable coecients; (ii) gener- alise the Taylor Expansion Method for the solution of Ordinary Dierential Equations of variable coecients; (iii) investigate the absolute error involved in the methods; and (iv) examine the eectiveness and accuracy of the Ado- mian Decomposition and Generalized Taylor Expansion Methods in solving Ordinary Dierential Equations of variable coecients. In this work, the generalized rst order nonlinear Ordinary Dierential Equation considered is of the form y0 = f(x; y) with the initial condition y(a) = ya The Adomian Decomposition and Generalized Taylor Expansion Methods were extended by obtaining the total derivatives of the nonlinear functions involved for the solution of the problem considered.
