This volume is concerned with "superantigens", a class of molocules that areknown to be the most potent stimulators of T lymphocytes. Prototypes are theenterotoxins and the toxic-shock-syndrome toxin produced by Staphylococcus aureus. The chapters discuss the molecular biology and genetics of different superantigens and their biological and clinical significance.
