Motivation is one of the crucial factors in learning process. Learners in all of the levels need motivation to be able to acquire the second language completely. But this important factor is subject to fluctuation in every moment of learning process. During the lockdown that occurred in all over the world because of COVID-19 pandemic, Iranian learners and teachers faced a new challenge. Almost all of the learners and teachers experienced a new learning context. Classes were attended in online format with no previous familiarity. A high number of learners became demotivated and teachers had no orientation about motivators in online classes. This study was designed with the aim of exploring motivational strategies and proposing motivating activities to the learners and teachers in order to motivate learners in online English classes. A mixed-methods design was utilized in this research. Participants were learners and teachers of Tabriz city. Some 60 teachers and 60 learners were inquired by a self-designed questionnaire and five teachers and five learners were invited to an interview which was utilized for complementary data. Data were analyzed by SPSS software version 26. In order to analyze the quantitative data t-test was utilized. According to the results of this study learning materials and class environment were the most influential factors in improving learners’ motivation. Teachers should provide offline files such as videos and voices for learners. Also, designing interesting learning applications would help learners to improve their motivation.

داشتن انگیزه یکی از اساسی ترین عوامل در یادگیری است. زبان آموزها در تمامی مقاطع برای موفق شدن در یادگیری زبان دوم به انگیزه نیاز دارند. اما این عامل مهم در هر لحظه از مراحل یادگیری دچار نوسان میگردد. در طی تعطیلی های سراسری در دوران همه گیری کرونا در جهان، زبان آموزها و مدرسها با چالش جدیدی رو به رو شدند. کلاسها بصورت آنلاین تشکیل شدند و هیچ دبیر و دانش آموزی آشنایی قبلی با چنین شرایطی نداشتند. تعداد بسیاری از زبان آموزان انگیزه خود را از دست دادند و دبیران ذهنیتی درباره افزایش انگیزه دانش آموزان نداشتند. این تحقیق با هدف کشف تکنیکهای انگیزشی و ارائه فعالیتهای انگیزشی طراحی شد تا زبان آموزان و دبیران برای افزایش انگیزه از آنها استفاده کنند. در این تحقیق از روش آمیخته استفاده شده است . شرکت کنندگان دبیران و زبان آموزان از شهر تبریز هستند. تعداد 60 زبان آموز و 60 دبیر به پرسشنامه طراحی شده توسط محقق پاسخ دادند و در مرحله بعدی 5 دبیر و 5 زبان آموزبه منظور کسب اطلاعات تکمیلی برای مصاحبه دعوت شدند. داده ها توسط نرم افزارSPSS نسخه 26 تحلیل شدند. مواد یادگیری و محیط کلاس به عنوان مهمترین عوامل در افزایش انگیزه زبان آموزان در کلاسهای آنلاین شناخته شدند. دبیران باید فایلهای آفلاین از قبیل ویدیو و صدا برای زبان آموزان آماده کنند. همچنین، طراحی برنامه های جالب میتواند سبب افزایش انگیزه زبان آموزان برای شرکت در کلاسهای آنلاین شود.
