Since the first decades of twentieth century, and with the theories of certain figures like Nietzsche, Marx, Freud, Saussure and even Darwin, the Modernism has emerged in different fields like literature, philosophy, sociology, psychology and psychoanalysis. As a negative definition, Modernism could be defined as the opposition of being classic and ancient: the advantage of form above content, the superiority of the autonomous art above reflective and mimetic art, and a necessity for being detached from the Past. Also at the latest decades of the same century, we have Postmodernism, mostly based on the ideas of a number of philosophers like Derrida, Foucault, Baudrillard, and Lyotard. Postmodernism in nouvel could be considered as the third step of the evolution of the narration; the thesis of Realism and the antithesis of Modernism have led to the Synthesis of Postmodernism. Unlike Modernism, the Postmodernism is not an absolute negation of the past, but has a new attitude towards this problematic. Far from being a coherent and clear doctrine, Postmodernism is a fragmented and incoherent attitude towards the world; a sort of uncertainty which can be considered as one of its greatest power sources. Now, a comparative analysis between these two attitudes, with a concentration on the notion of Subject as a keyword in philosophy, also in literature their differences could be more transparent. In this research, analyzing the two novels: Les Gommes by Alain Robbe-Grillet (1953) and Rue des Boutiques Obscures by Patrick Modiano (1978), we will try to trace the major differences between the modern and postmodern subjectivity.

در قرن نوزدهم و اوایل قرن بیستم، مفهوم مدرنیسم با آراء متفکرانی چون نیچه، مارکس، فروید و سوسور در حیطه ادبیات، فلسفه، جامعه‌شناسی و روانکاوی، و دانشمندانی چون داروین در حیطه علوم تجربی شکل گرفت و در هنر نیز متجلی شد .در مقام تعریفی سلبی، می توان مدرنیسم را نقطه مقابل سنتی و کلاسیک بودن دانست :برتری فرم نسبت به محتوی، برتری هنر خودبسنده و قائم بالذات نسبت به هنر بازنمایانه یا میمتیک، و همچنین ضرورت گسستی ریشه‌ای از گذشته .البته برخی متفکران چون میشل فوکو فرانسوی، مدرنیسم را بیشتر یک نگرش می‌دانند تا یک دوران تاریخی .در اواخر قرن بیستم نیز متفکرانی چون دریدا، فوکو، بودریار و لیوتار، شالوده‌های پست‌مدرنیسم را پی‌ریزی کردند .پست‌مدرنیسم در حیطه ادبیات و رمان، نقش مرحله سوم از سیر تاریخی روایت را عهده‌دار شد تز رئالیسم و آنتی‌تز مدرنیسم به سنتز پست‌مدرنیسم انجامید .پست‌مدرنیسم، بر خلاف مدرنیسم، در تقابلی ذاتی با گذشته نیست، اما نگرشی نو به آن دارد .پست‌مدرنیسم نه یک مکتب فکری و هنری یکپارچه، بلکه نوعی جهان‌بینی است که در نهایت ابهام و ناواضح بودن قرار دارد و از طرفی، همین عدم قطعیت را می‌توان به عنوان یکی از بزرگترین مزیت‌های آن در نظر گرفت .در نهایت، یک بررسی دقیق میان این دو نگرش با محوریت مفهوم ص سوژه بعنوان عنصری کلیدی در ادبیات و فلسفه تفاوت‌های آن‌ها را با یکدیگر و تفاوت‌های هر دو را با رئالیسم سنتی آشکارتر خواهد ساخت .در این رساله، ما با بررسی رمان پاک‌کن‌ها اثر آلن رب-گریه (1953) و رمان خیابان بوتیک‌های خاموش اثر پاتریک مودیانو(1978) ، به جستجوی تفاوت‌های سوبژکتیویته‌ی مدرن و سوبژکتیویته‌ی پست‌مدرن خواهیم پرداخت
