Being able to listen well is an important part of communication for everyone. Language learning depends on listening. But most of Iranian English language learners find listening difficult and challenging. Language teachers can help students develop a set of listening strategies and match appropriate strategies to each listening situation. There have been a number of strategies used by learners but this study aimed at examining the effect of note taking in listening comprehension and the role of instruction whether to instruct those note taking strategies explicitly or implicitly to the learners. Three homogenous groups of learners from three different classes were chosen. Their proficiency level was at intermediate one. Two of the classes were considered as experimental groups and one of them as control group. In the first group strategies of note taking were explicitly taught to the learners by the teacher. The second group also recieved the strategies but implicitly and third group got no strategies. Both pre-test and post-test were administrated to compare the results by using ANOVA statistical measurements. As the results showed the instruction of note-taking strategy both explicitly and implicitly had a negative effect on listening comprehension. In addition, the negative effect of explicit instruction was lower than the effect of implicit instruction.

توانایی خوب در مهارت شنیداری قسمت مهمی از ارتباط برای هر فردی است .یادگیری زبان وابسته به مهارت شنیداری است .اما این امر برای بیشتر یادگیرندگان ایرانی زبان انگلیسی سخت و چالش انگیز است .معلمان زبان می توانند یادگیرندگان را در به کارگیری انواع مختلف استراتژی های شنیداری در موقعیت های مناسب کمک کنند.استراتژی های شنیداری مختلفی وجود دارند که توسط یادگیرندگان به کار گرفته می شوند اما این پژوهش قصد دارد که تاثیر استراتژی یادداشت برداری را در درک فعالیت های شنیداری و همچنین تاثیر آموزش التزامی و صریح بر روی این استراتژی را بیازماید .سه گروه مشابه از یادگیرندگان زبان انگلیسی از سه کلاس مختلف برای این تحقیق انتخاب شدند .سطح مهارتی آنها متوسط بود .دو کلاس به عنوان گروه آزمایش در نظر گرفته شدند و یک گروه به عنوان گروه کنترل .دریکی از گروهای آزمایشی یک استراتژی یادداشت برداری به صورت صریح و مستقیم آموزش داده شد، در گروه آزمایشی دوم همان استراتژی به صورت التزامی آموزش داده شد و گروه کنترل هیچ گونه آموزشی دریافت نکرد .پیش آزمون و پس آزمون اجرا شدند و نتایج بر اساس روش آماری ANOVA گزارش شدند .بر اساس نتایج بدست آمده، آموزش استراتژی یادداشت برداری چه به صورت مستقیم و چه به صورت غیر مستقیم تاثیر منفی بر روی درک فعالیتهای شنیداری دارد .همچنین تاثیر منفی آموزش مستقیم کمتر از آموزش غیر مستقیم می باشد
