This study focuses on use of picture and contextualization as vocabulary teaching techniques and their effect on elementary Iranian EFL students. The purpose of this study is to identify if using pictures and contextualization techniques are helpful tools for vocabulary teaching. The subjects were two classes of elementary Iranian EFL learners at the same stage with the same material and teacher. The participants of both classes were approximately homogenous with the same linguistic background. One class was treated as experimental group in which vocabulary items were presented through pictures and contexts and model sentences. The other class was regarded as control group and the new words were presented in the common way through definitions, synonyms and translation to L1. Before starting the semester and based on the textbook, two similar tests were prepared as the pretest and posttest with the criteria of validity and reliability. At the first session, the pretest was administered to determine if there are any significant differences between two groups. The amount of Sig. (2-tailed) was larger than p value 0.05, so it is concluded that the two groups were homogeneous with respect to their vocabulary knowledge at the outset. The treatment of the study took 10 sessions, and then the posttest was administered as final test. According to the results of independent samples test, the significance (p value) of Levene's test was 0.737; which indicated the variances of two groups are equal and similar to each other. Therefore, on the basis of the obtained 2-tailed sig., which was less than 0.05, it is concluded that there is a significant difference between experimental group which were under treatment of using pictures and contextualization as vocabulary teaching method and control group which received traditional teaching technics of vocabulary learning. ا ین تحقیق بر استفاده تصویر و متن سازی به تکنیک تدریس لغت و تاثیر ان بر فراگیران مبتدی زبان انگلیسی ایرانی تا کید می کند.هدف تحقیق این است که مشخص کند تکنیکهای تصاویر و متن سازی ابزار های مفیدی برای تدریس لغت هستند.تعداد فراگیران 44 دختر 6 الی 12 ساله در جهاد دانشگاهی مرند می باشند .2کلاس در سطوح پایین تقریبا با دانش زبانی یکسان انتخاب شده اند.یکی از کلاسها بعنوان گروه کنترل تعیین شده و لغات جدید بع روشهای معمولی به انها تدریس می شود و به کلاس دیگر لغات با تصویر و متن سازی تدریس می شود.قبل از شروع تحقیق ازمون اولیه برای تعییت سطح دانش اموزان برگزار میشود.بعد از 10 جلسه تدریس به گروه 2 تدریس می شود.یک ازمون به هر دو گروه ازمون نهایی برگزار می شود و با استفاده از تکنیک های اماری اطلاعات جمع اوری و تفسیر خواهد شد.اختلاف میان انحاف معیار در دو گروه نشان خواهد داد که تصویر و متن سازی بر تدریس لغت تاثیر مثبت دارد . .کلمات کلیدی:متن سازی .تدریس لغت با استفاده از تصویر
