SUMMARY OR ABSTRACT

Text of Note
Recent studies and researches have shown that there are many problems associated with error correction in the EFL classrooms. (mainly considering the students oral errors). One of these common problems is the student and teacher disagreement on the amount of error correction, type, and techniques of correcting errors. Matching the expectations of teachers and students is important for successful learning. This research discusses the findings of a questionnaire, administrated to male EFL students at Pardisan English language Institution. The questionnaire investigated students' preferences toward classroom oral corrective feedback, their preferences for correction of different types of oral error and their preferences for particular correction techniques. The findings suggest that the students prefer teacher correction mainly in higher levels and that the majority of the students want to have their errors in grammar and vocabulary always corrected .Intermediate and advanced level students prefer pragmatical error correction too .Also the least favored oral error correction technique was the one in which the teacher ignored students errors and most favored correction technique was the one in which the teacher encouraged students for self-correction especially in elementary level while explanation of the incorrectness of errors was mostly preferred in intermediate and advanced levels ..
