بخش عمده‌ای از منابع زبان‌های ایرانی میان‍ غربی مربوط به آثار مانی و پیروان اوست که تا کنون بسیاری از قطعات بازمانده از این زبان‌ها به زبان‌های غربی و گاه فارسی ترجمه شده است اما هنوز بسیاری از قطعات باقی مانده است که مورد پژوهشی دقیق قرار نگرفته‌اند .کتاب بررسی فارسی میانه و پهلوی اشکانی مانوی مری بویس، شامل حرف‌نویسی قطعاتی از آثار مختلف مانوی به دو زبان فارسی میانه و پهلوی اشکانی است .از جمله موضوعات این قطعات می‌صتوان آفرینش جهان، فرایند نجات، رستگاری فرد، سرنوشت روان به هنگام مرگ، پایان جهان، بزرگداشت مانی و رهبران کیش مانوی، دعاها، تمثیلات و غیره را نام برد .تعدادی از قطعات این کتاب تاکنون موضوع رسالات و کتاب‌هایی به زبان فارسی قرار گرفته، ولی بخش عمده‌ای مورد پژوهش قرار نگرفته است .در این رساله متن‌های مختلف با موضوعاتی در زمین‍ زندگی مانی و آبای کلیسا، متن‌هایی در باب دوازده شهریاری، سرودهایی در ستایش مانی و دیگر رهبران کیش او، سرودهایی برای سلسله مراتب نهادهای دینی و شخصیت‌های برجست‍ روحانی، متن‌های نمازواره، اشعار متفرقه، تمثیل‌ها و متن‌های متفرقه به نثر، دعاها و استغاثه‌ها مورد بررسی قرار گرفته‌اند .رساله شامل ‮‭۸‬ فصل حاوی متن‌هایی از قطعات ذکر شده است .در هر فصل متن‌ها حرف‌نویسی، آوانویسی و ترجمه شده‌اند و در پایان همان فصل یادداشت‌هایی که به شرح واژه‌های تخصصی و نکات مبهم دستوری اختصاص دارند، آورده شده است .در پایان واژه‌نام‍ بسامدی متن‌ها ارائه شده است

Text of Note

The major part of the resources of the Western Middle Iranian Languages is concerned with Mani and his followers which so far most of the surviving parts of these languages is translated to Western Languages and sometimes Persian. But still many parts are remained that have not been carefully studied. The book of A Reader in Manichaean Middle Persian and Parthian, by Mary Boyce, consists of the transliteration of fragments of various works of Manichaean texts in Middle Persian and Parthian languages. Some of the topics of these fragments are as follows: the creation of the world, the process of redemption, individual salvation, fate of the individual soul at death, end of the world, celebrate Mani and Manichaean leaders, prayers, parables, and etc. Some of the pieces of this book have already been the subject of essays and books in Persian, but so far most parts have not been studied. In this thesis, several texts have been studied with issues on Manis life and church leaders, the texts about twelve dominions, hymns in honour of Mani and individual church leaders, hymns for the church hierarchy and church dignitaries, liturgical texts, miscellaneous, parables and miscellaneous prose texts, prayers and invocations. The thesis consists of eight chapters contains the texts of listed parts. In each chapter, the texts have been transliterated, transcripted, and translated and at the end of each chapter, annotations are given which are assigned to the description of the technical terms and grammatical and lexical ambiguities. At the end, frequency glossary of texts is provided
