سفرنامه¬ها به دلیل اینکه از نظر محتوایی و نوع نگارش به موضوعاتی "صرفاً سیاسی" نمی¬پردازند، اهمیت و ارزش زیادی دارند. بنابراین، می¬توان آنها را یکی از منابع مهم در شناخت ویژگی¬های فرهنگی و اجتماعی جوامع دانست. اروپائیانی که در دوران قاجار به ایران سفر کرده¬اند، مطالب فراوانی درباره¬ی مسائل مربوط به ایران و ایرانی در نوشته¬هایشان به یادگار گذاشته¬اند. در این بین همدان، به عنوان یکی از کهن¬ترین¬ پایتخت¬های ایران با ابنیه و آثار تاریخی فراوان و همچنین شهری مواصلاتی بین محورهای اصلی کشور، مورد توجه بسیاری از سیاحان و سفرنامه¬نویسان اروپایی قرار گرفته و باعث شده آنان دیدار از این شهر را در برنامه سفر خود قرار دهند. بنابراین چگونگی انعکاس ویژگی¬های اجتماعی و فرهنگی همدان در سفرنامه¬های اروپائیان عصر قاجار مساله¬ای است که در این تحقیق مورد توجه قرار می¬گیرد.این تحقیق که به روش توصیفی- تبیینی صورت پذیرفته است سعی بر آن دارد که یک چارچوب کلی از نوع نگرش و تصورات اروپائیان از اوضاع اجتماعی و فرهنگی همدان عصر قاجار با استناد به گزارش¬های سفرنامه¬نویسان ارائه بدهد

Travelogues are of great importance and value because they do not deal with “purely political” issues in terms of content and type of writing. Therefore, they can be considered as one of the important sources in recognizing societies cultural and social characteristics. Europeans who traveled to Iran during the Qajar period have written extensively on issues related to iran and Iranians in the writing. In the meanwhile, Hamedan, one of the oldest capitals of Iran with many historical buildings and monuments, as well as a transportation city between the main axes of the country, has attracted the attention of many tourists and travel writers and has caused them to visit this city in the program Put your trip.Therefore, how to reflect the social and cultural characteristics of Hamedan in the travelogues of Europeans of the Qajar rea is an issue that is considered in this research.This descriptive-explanatory study tries to provide a general frameworke of Europeans attitudes and perceptions of the social and cultural situation of Hamedan in the Qajar era based on travel writers reports.
