Abstract: Study of social networks analyzes the relationships between humans, organizations and interactions between entities. Widespreading popularity of social media has attracted researchers’ attention oncommunity detection. Communities are defined as clusters of nodes or vertices that have strong relationships among them rather than between them. Community detection plays an important role on discoveringthe underlying structures of social networks and it displays the effects of links’ structures on people and therelationship between them. Communities are detected by clustering algorithms. In this thesis, we presenta new clustering algorithm for community detection that considers the depth of relationships between individuals in community recognition process. Results on specific data indicates that considering the depth ofrelationships between people increases the accuracy of the clustering methods
