SUMMARY OR ABSTRACT
Text of Note

Calibration coefficients of existing structures in canal, like in-line control structure in canal reaches and turnout gates were specified by field measurements. This was done during 3 months by using the flow meter. The extracted coefficients were passed to model as the in feed data after complete introduction of canal details in the model. The model ran and operational program tested with different scenarios of flow system and different turnout outflow according to the downstream demands. As the actual operation of canal is done manually, therefore the manual operation mode was selected and model implemented for actual operation in 21-Apr-2005 to 21-May-2005 and the suitable operational instructions were developed. At the same time, the traditional operational method was developed in the same format, through comparison of two methods and the indixes of operational efficiency and water delivery adequacy for both of methods have been calculated. The results obtained from the simulation model showed that, there are an increase in operational efficiency and water delivery adequacy. Using the developed operational program, data of canal and turnout performance and other required information have also been peresentd.
