SUMMARY OR ABSTRACT
Text of Note

The present study investigates the morphotectonic & neotectonic features in the southeast of sarab plain which covers a part of Bozgush northern mountain range as well as the southern part of Sarab plain. The region is located at the altitude of 37 44' to 37 55' N and longitude of 47 25' to 47 55' E. From a topological point of view , this region consists of three units, namely, mountain, plain and pediment, all of which are drained by various currents as many as 10 basins. Geologically, the region includes remarkable stratigraphic classification and most of these units are distributed from old to new. The investigation of cutcrop stones existed in the region shows that most of them are primarily related to volcanic stones and Eocen sediments which have average resistance. In another unit of this study, the morphotectonic evidences of this region have been initially investigated. To do so, initially the region faults and their characteristics are examined and then morphotecnic evidences resulting from the effects of faults in the region have been studied. The studied evidences includes the fault scrape, linear fault valleys, the change of channel way and regional currents, formation of alluvium terrace, displacement of alluvial fan, springs specially hot water springs, etc. Unit 7, a major unit of this study, is concerned with investigation of neotectonic activities of this region. The primary focus was on the measuring of different morphometric indices which are separately done in the tenth basins. In the present study, nearly all morphometric indices have been measured and assessed. The used indices are as follows; Stream length-gradiet index (SL), ratio of form of drainage basin (BS) , drainage basin asymmetry (AT), topographic symmetry factor(T), mountain front discontinuity percent(Fd), mountain front uncut slope percent(EU), mountain-front sinuosity (smf), ratio of valley-floor width to valley height (VF), hypsometric curve analysis and hypsometric integral. Generally speaking, examination of the results of index measurement indicates that tectonically the region is relatively active and in various parts the amount of activity is different, that is, according to the results of all indices except hypsometry index, the western part of the region including Bijand basins (8), Herris(9), Asbforoshan(10) and Ardeha basins are more active than other parts. In this region, the index of SL has been assessed. It is also investigated through changes of river length profile, examination of geological characteristics (lithology-techtonic) of path and geological maps and makes it possible to determine the techtonic effects along the path. Finally, having examined the morphometric indices in the region, the Lot index has been used in order to estimate the total techtonic activity. Based on the results of this index, the range of changes in tenth subbasins has a progressive state and in generalthe region is regarded as an active one in terms of neotechnic activities
